SDD X San Diego

This holiday season, our Intensive Training Program Dancers had the option to perform in the Holiday Bowl Parade and Halftime Show in San Diego, California. Six of our dancers (and Miss Chasta!) made their way to the West Coast for SDD X San Diego themed fun. Read below for a recap of this experience!

DAY 1: DECEMBER 27th, 2022

The first day in San Diego was rehearsal focused. 103 Dancers from all around the country practiced together for several hours with their choreographer, Geo Hubela, in preparation for the big performance day. That evening, our dancers explored the Gaslamp Quarter, watched the Battle of the Bands, and enjoyed Cali Cream Ice Cream.

DAY 2: DECEMBER 28th, 2022

The second day in San Diego was a jam-packed performance day!

In the morning, dancers participated in the Holiday Bowl Parade which made its way through the Gaslamp Quarter.

Following the parade, they quickly ate lunch and made their way to Petco Park to prepare for the bowl game.

We were all seated in the stadium together and enjoyed watching the pre-game pageantry.

At the beginning of the second quarter, the dancers made their way to the field in anticipation of their performance.

The halftime performance was Top Gun themed and featured dancers, a marching band, and fireworks. It was 4 minutes of memorable and magical fun. You can view it here!

After the halftime show, our group was able to enjoy the rest of the game, and we stayed to see the post-game fireworks display, too.

DAY 3: DECEMBER 29th, 2022

Our third day in San Diego was filled with fun! In the morning, we boarded private motorcoaches and made our way to Sea World. Throughout the day, we enjoyed rides and shows.

That evening, we had a private dinner and dance party with our co-performers from all around the country.

At the end of the night, we snuck in a final few rollercoaster rides and made our way back to the hotel.

FINAL WORD:

While many of our families chose to extend their trip in different ways, the 3 days we spent together were some of the best we’ve had as a community.
