Sara Thames

Sara has been involved with Stage Door Dance since the studio’s inception, and she is excited to serve as the Director of the Intensive Training Program at the Brier Creek Location. Sara graduated from Bowling Green State University, in Ohio, with a major in Psychology and a minor in Neuroscience and is currently pursuing graduate studies at Wake Forest University. She has danced for over 15 years and has trained in multiple subjects, including jazz, tap, ballet, hip-hop, and contemporary. Growing up, she was part of many nationally recognized tap and jazz groups and held high scores for her tap solos. In addition to dancing competitively, she was also captain of the Ravenscroft Dance Team where she met and worked extensively with Chasta. She also assisted Chasta and choreographed for the Sightless Rhythm Tap Project at the Governor Morehead School for the Blind. At Bowling Green State University, she was a member of the Dance Repertory Ensemble, where she had the opportunity to perform throughout the community. She was also a member of BGSU’s Tap Ensemble, where she was a featured dancer in both large and small groups. In addition, her contemporary choreography was selected to be performed in the end of the year showcase, Footlights. While in Ohio, Sara taught at multiple dance studios and had the opportunity to head the dance program at the YMCA, where she planned and organized the annual spring recital. In addition, Sara is a member of Dance Masters of America and Carolina Dance Masters, where she is certified by exam to teach multiple styles of dance.
