Courtney Owen-Muir

A determined risk-taker, settling for nothing less than her goals! Courtney is an outgoing dancer, originally from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Courtney is a contemporary dancer in her current years of professional dancing; She has also trained heavily in ballet, modern, jazz, floor, improvisation and partnering, with a background in tap, acrobatics, music theatre and hip-hop.

Courtney graduated Cawthra Park Secondary School as a dance major in the Regional Arts Program, continued onto Ryerson University in the BFA Dance Program, and currently to The Conteur Academy where she graduated the 2-year contemporary program this past, June 2014. The Conteur Academy is where Courtney received the final foundation of her professional training and solidifying her movement before entering the professional dance world. With 2 major performances in the program, Courtney has had the honor of being a soloist in her first year show; she was recognized as one of the top three students in the program.

Courtney has had the luxury of working under some brilliant dance facilitators and choreographers such as: Peter Chu, Alexandra Wells, Sidra Bell, Shannon Gillen Lipinski, Jermaine Spivey, Ana Lucaciu and Gabriel Forestieri.

Courtney continually takes her time-off in the summer and winter to train abroad from different programs around the world, some of which include: The Movement Invention Project- New York City, The Alvin Ailey Summer Dance Intensive- New York City, LA Contemporary Dance Program- Los Angeles, Ate9 Winter Intensive- Los Angeles and The American Dance Festival Summer Series- North Carolina. Courtney had the privilege of her first professional opportunity as a company dancer and actress in The Women in War Project; A theatre company that consisted of a 6 week tour throughout Greece, performing at historical landmarks, prominent in world history.

Courtney is currently a new company dancer, dancing with Code F.A.D Dance Company under the direction of Autumn Mist Belk, and a dancer for an upcoming project in 2015 with the KT Collective. Courtney is also a free-lance choreographer at various studios in North Carolina, and is permanently teaching in Raleigh/Durham. Courtney is extremely excited to be working with dancers from North Carolina, and is excited for a thrilling year ahead!
